Jetlag...

Of course I have jetlag. It's 4:43 in the morning and I'm up, taking a crap, as if it were 7:43 in the morning...

Last night, instead of watching the big bunch of nothing on the minimalistic list of channels available on the tv in this less-than-stellar Doubletree hotel, I watched American Hardcore on my laptop, a movie I had been meaning to watch for a couple of weeks. It was a cool history of punk music in America, starting with the 70's, ending with the 80's, and basically preaching to anybody who thinks they're a punk band now that they're not. It was a little too much the Henry Rollins story in the middle, but obviously the guy deserves his place in history.

I did do some work yesterday. I unboxed 6 Dell desktops, did the bare minimum to set them up and plug them in to the network, and now they are ready for the boy wonder in NYC to remotely configure them for the end users.

I also found a linksys wireless router on their network. Of course. I told them not to put one there, but they don't listen to me. I care, but I don't care. First of all, if the AMP guys did what they said they would, when I originally asked, there's a limit of 2 addresses per physical port which means they could only use 1 computer wirelessly anyway. 2nd one would just turn the port off. And if AMP didn't do what they said, oh well. It's a security risk that TC Digital appears not to mind.

Today I get to mount a bunch of monitors on swingarms, and setup 1 laptop. That should be enough to get me through to tomorrow when Kent comes to fix all the things wrong with the network.

I didn't exactly make the most of my $90/day meal allowance yesterday either. I ate a donut at the airport and then the breakfast on the plane, except I saved the yogurt for after I landed so I could eat it with one of my pills. Then I didn't eat anything until dinner. I guess vicodin makes me not hungry.

For dinner I went to Souplantation. It's like Sweet Tomato, one of my mom's favorite places in Florida. You get 1 pass at a salad bar and then pay like $12 for the plate of salad, an empty glass you can fill with the beverages of your choice as many times as you want, and an all you can eat area of soups, pizza, pastas, other baked goods, and desserts including pudding and an ice cream machine. The families there seemed to be genuinely enjoying it. I was in a hurry to put something in my stomach and get back to the hotel to take a vicodin because my tooth was hurting and I hadn't had one since early in the day.

Tooth feels a lot better this morning but I'm several pills further in to the antibiotics and on vicodin. We'll see how the day goes. I'd sure love to be able to eat a bagel for breakfast, even if the best San Diego can do is Einstein Bagels. It's kind of like a bagel, and kind of not.

Almost 5am, guess I'll go lay down and stare at the ceiling, hoping to fall back asleep, or else laying there until it's a more respectable hour...
